Mama Reader is one of my most prominent collectors, this was the second piece she commissioned from me to celebrate her recent move. After seeing a piece I'd made for the Friday #ArtistsForHope auctions on Instagram, she reached out requesting a work inspired by the botanical fabrics I'd used for the auction. Each piece of fabric was painstakingly cut with embroidery scissors, before being assembled to create this wild garden. The flowers were collaged onto a monotype print after mounting it to a cradled board.
A dear friend of mine asked me to make her a monotype collage of snap dragons, one of the flowers she remembers featuring prominently in her childhood. Each petal and stem were hand cut and arranged on the backing monotype print, after being mounted to the wood round. I chose to layer different monotype prints to highlight the delicate translucency of petals caught in full sunlight.
